Bamboo "canes" are often referred to us as splits. The "canes" are manufactured out of the side of a thick bamboo pole and do not have the normal nodule seen on bamboo "stakes" (maybe think of BBQ skewers)
Bamboo "stakes" are the whole stake and have the nodule and are not smooth like the canes
The green colour is food dye and not toxic.
The bamboos are priced by the 1000 but sold in bales which vary according to the length and diameter
